The Invisible Man (1933)
Story: A scientist finds a way of becoming invisible, but in doing so, he becomes murderously insane.
Written by H.G. also the author of War of the Worlds and The Lost World, this story focuses on a scientist's attempt to transition from a visible, physical being into an invisible one. Unfortunately, the drugs he uses cause him to become insane in the process.
========================================================================
I suspect this story, and the well known Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde, are topical subjects which were the authors' attempts to dissuade society from experimenting with drugs, which have such unpredictable results. In our times it is Cocaine, Crystal, and other such chemicals, and in t heir time it was the opiates.
Were they right?
Only time will tell.
But one thing is for sure the villains or heroes of these stories are men whose inner soul is not as bright as it should be and once revealed on on the surface, show pieces of t hem that had best been buried for the sake of their very own soul and that of others about them.
